Environmental Instrumentation & Monitoring
Frontinus provides turnkey systems that measure water levels, flows, pressure, weather data, water quality, and related environmental parameters across a range of applications.
Instrumentation is applied across a wide range of sites, including wells, storage tanks, reservoirs, streams, culverts, roadway underpasses, and other flood-prone locations.
- Selection, specification, and provision of instrumentation suited to site conditions and monitoring objectives.
- Develop and install a mounting solution that includes the correct enclosures and field wiring to support long service life in outdoor environments.
- Commission all equipment, calibrate devices, and validate data end-to-end.
- Provide the documentation needed to support operation, maintenance, and future upgrades of equipment as required.
Remote Telemetry & Data Collection
Frontinus works with each client to identify and implement remote monitoring and data collection solutions that provide reliable performance and economic efficiency for the application.
Remote telemetry solutions are designed around site-specific constraints, including location, access, power availability, communications coverage, and operational requirements.
- Development of communication strategies that may include cellular, satellite, and wireless radio technologies, used individually or in combination, and selected from a range of manufacturers to meet site conditions and client requirements.
- Provide solar power solutions for applications where utility power is unavailable or cost-prohibitive, accounting for installation constraints and long-term operational costs, including electrical and communications service charges.
- Provide assistance selecting data platforms provided by equipment manufacturers or integrating telemetry data into existing systems to ensure data is accessible and usable by operations and engineering staff.
System Start-Up and Commissioning
Once the system is installed, Frontinus works to integrate new instrumentation and telemetry into the selected data collection platform, supporting a smooth transition from installation to operational use.
- Verification of end-to-end data integrity and accuracy, from field instrumentation through telemetry and into the data collection platform.
- Provide system training for staff as requested, to support effective operation, interpretation of data, and routine use of the system.
- Assistance to staff in developing an alarming strategy, including alarm setpoints, notification methods, and call-out logic to support timely operational response.
- Verification of alarm functionality, confirming that alarms trigger, notify, and escalate as intended under real-world operating conditions.
Maintenance Support
Frontinus systems are designed to require minimal maintenance; however, periodic service may be needed over time to ensure continued reliable operation and data quality.
- Occasional onboard battery replacement for telemetry devices, often on multi-year intervals.
- Periodic calibration checks, performed at intervals determined by the client to help ensure accuracy and confidence in collected data.
- Potential cleaning of weather-related and precipitation measurement devices, such as rain gauges and associated sensors, as needed to maintain measurement reliability.
